Brewery Facts

  • The Spoetzl Brewery was founded in 1909 by Kosmos Spoetzl, a Bavarian immigrant, in a small town called Shiner, TX
  • Spoetzl Brewery, where Shiner beer is made, is the 4th largest independent craft brewery in the United States, according to the Brewer’s Association
  • The Gambrinus Company, which has operated the Spoetzl brewery since 1989, started out importing the Grupo Modelo (Corona} portfolio to the southwestern U.S. in the mid-1980’s
  • Shiner volume at Bond peaked in 2015 at almost 23,000CE, driven by extremely strong sales of Ruby Redbird which had just gone from seasonal to year-round; Bond was the largest Ruby Redbird market outside of Texas
  • Not a “beer geek” brand; Shiner works best in accounts that share its affinities for Texas barbecue, live country & rock music, and/or the military
